BEHIND THE BUILD: SAVANNAH BANANAS
Two Games.
Two Control Rooms.
One Massive Project.
I’m beyond grateful that my team was entrusted by the Bananas to design and integrate the Savannah Bananas’ new control rooms, This is a project that pushed us, challenged us, and reminded us why we love what we do.
When we first sat down, the challenge was clear:
– Cover two games at once
– Plan for future growth
– And make it happen fast
After countless brainstorming sessions, we locked in a plan, and then it was full throttle. My team dove straight into design, procurement, and installation on an incredibly tight timeline. We hit a few construction-related bumps along the way, but I’m proud to say both control rooms have been fully operational since June!
We also partnered with Gerling and Associates, Inc. to design the Banana Van — the mobile transmission hub that follows the Bananas everywhere, sending the remote feeds back to Savannah.
Inside the control rooms, we built a powerful setup featuring:
- GrassValleyLive K-Frame switchers
- Evertz Nexx routing
- RIEDEL Communications Artist 1024 Matrix with RSP-2318 Key Panels, and – Riedel RiMotion replay systems
On the field, we worked with Sony to provide eight Sony HDC-3500 camera chains, and teamed up with Joseph Electronics Inc. to design custom field and booth kits, as well as implement four channels of Videosys Broadcast wireless video to capture the action from anywhere in the stadium.
By the Numbers:
- 33,000+ feet of cable installed → That’s over 6 miles
- 1,100+ hours of installation labor
- And Countless additional hours spent on design, logistics, and fulfillment
This was a massive milestone for our company, and I couldn’t be prouder of my incredible team. You all went above and beyond to make this project a success.
